Meeting Guidelines

1. Absence
from a regular meeting of the Pearisburg Lions Club may be made up
within the time line of 12 days prior to and 12 days following the date of the
meeting missed in any of the following ways:
a. Attendance at a regular or special meeting of
any other Lions Club.
b. Attendance at a meeting of the member’s home
club Board of Directors.
c. Attendance at any meeting scheduled or
sponsored by the member’s club, including fund-raising and service activities.
d. Attendance of a duly constituted meeting of a
standing committee of the member’s home club.
e. Attendance at a regional or zone meeting.
f. Attendance at an International, State or
District Convention or any other recognized Lion Meeting.
g. A visit within said time limit to the office of
Lions Club International or the office of any District or State facility
outside the country of which the visiting Lion is a member.
2. A member who is forced to miss meeting(s) by
reason of illness or if a member of one’s immediate family is ill enough to
prevent attendance, said member shall be excused. In case of a death in the
family, the member shall automatically be granted attendance credit for
meetings missed.
3. A member who is forced to miss meeting(s) as a
result of Military Service, Jury Duty, elected or appointed Government
position, Federal or State or other statuary requirements, shall be given
attendance credit for meeting(s) misses. In each case, the Board of Directors
shall decide if credit should be given.
4. Lions that find it necessary or are assigned to
perform Occupational Duties, including shift work and or overtime, that prevent
them from attending a Lions Club meeting, may be granted credit for meeting(s)
missed.
5. Any member who cannot attend the regular
meeting due to being out of town on vacation shall be given credit for
attendance if the Secretary or a member of the Attendance Committee is notified
prior to leaving on vacation.
6. Members who miss a meeting due to attending a
social, sporting or other community activity may not be given attendance credit
but may make up the missed meeting as outlined in section 1.
7. The Board of Directors shall use its discretion
in granting continuous membership in cases of prolonged absence.
8. Responsibility shall be placed on the Club
Secretary and Attendance Committee to verify the member has fulfilled the clubs
attendance requirements.
